To further assist the deployment of low carbon vehicles Cenex can provide an analysis of the recharging and refuelling infrastructure required to meet any proposed low carbon fleet deployment. This support is available as either a basic or detailed analysis, as further detailed below.
Outline infrastructure review
This review will provide information and guidance relating to the broad infrastructure implications and indicative costs for the types of charging equipment required for a fleet operation.
Such guidance will cover:
- Infrastructure requirements
- Suitable charging options
- Equipment costs
- Indicative installation costs
- Maintenance and warranty costs
- Operational and installation considerations
- Infrastructure and EV compatibility
- Existing charge management schemes
For this type of analysis Cenex will only describe the broad implications for the infrastructure locations (numbers, power consumption, etc.) but will not provide advice on the approach or costs for modifications to buildings and network upgrades related to infrastructure.
Fleet specific infrastructure analysis
This analysis will examine the infrastructure requirements for a specified fleet, specifically related to the operational environment expected.
This detailed analysis will cross reference GPS location information to the state of charge of each selected vehicle across a range of company specific drive cycles. Such an analysis will identify and thus provide a mapped location of where the vehicle would normally become low on fuel or charge and therefore require refuelling or recharging in order to complete its journey.
This identified location would then be cross reference with the charging point sites available under the various Plugged in Places schemes; other publically available refuelling and charging infrastructure and suitable company specific locations.
In doing so, Cenex would identify the most suitable sites for recharging taking into account the:
- amount of space required
- time taken for recharging/ refuelling
- potential for multiple vehicle requirements
- indicative costs
