Sustainable Efficient Road Transport Event

SERT 2011  (Sustainable, Efficient, Road Transport)

Henry Ford Colleage, Loughborough 15-17 March 2011

SERT 2011 provides a platform to profile UK capability and expertise to an international audience, and is your opportunity to engage with key decision makers and policy shapers.

Through a series of interactive seminars, panel discussions, technology showcases, workshops and site visits, SERT 2011 will address the question of whole-life cycle environmental impact, of alternative road transport technologies, compared with conventional vehicles. The event will focus on areas such as advanced materials, efficient powertrain, energy storage, power electronics and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), and the role they can play in reducing environmental impact.

SERT is part of the Sustainable World 2011 programme supported by UKTI. The SERT 2011 programme has been developed in cooperation with key partners Cenex, ITS-UK, Atkins, the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), Intelligent Energy, innovITS, Ricardo, The Materials Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), Revolve, UK Automotive Council and The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS).

SERT 2011 WILL COVER 4 KEY TECHNOLOGY STREAMS:

  • Powertrain – including improvements to ICEs;
  • energy storage and management; electric machines and power electronics.
  • Advanced materials – including materials and design for light weighting of vehicle and powertrain structures.
  • ITS – including ITS involvement with low carbon strategy and electric charging infrastructure.
  • A fourth stream will highlight key international opportunities and detail how UK companies can gain a greater understanding of procurement strategies, procedures and processes.
A range of international decision makers, buyers and policy makers from the automotive sector, vehicle based engineering, infrastructure development, government policy and planning sectors will visit SERT 2011 as guests of UKTI and their partners. Markets confirmed to date include USA, Germany, Japan, China, India, South Korea and many others.
