Hydrogen fuel was provided by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) via its H2seed facility. H2seed generates renewable hydrogen by feeding electricity generated by a biogas engine to an electrolyser. The trial sought to examine the reliability, ease of fuelling and usability of the vehicle and fuelling regime, and the suitability of the HICE vehicle in fleet operation.
