centre of excellence
for low carbon and fuel cell technologies
The first trial of electric vehicles in North East England has been a major success, leaving hundreds of drivers ready to make the switch to low carbon transport.
Cenex, the UK's Centre of Excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, in conjunction with Regional Development Agency One North East, deployed four electric two-seater Smart ForTwo cars over six months in the region from September 2009. These were placed into ten different vehicle fleets, featured at three public events and in total were driven by 264 different people.
Cenex expert Chris Rock is giving a presentation to the UK Magnetics Society Wednesday (12th May) at TRW Conekt in Solihull. The presentation is called “An Overview of Hybrid Drive Technologies”, and is part of a seminar entitled “Hybrid Vehicle Technologies”. he'll be discussing the overall challenge for the transport sector, and looking in further detail at the primary hybrid vehicle architectures along with their pros and cons.
The UK Magnetics Society is an international organisation representing industrial and academic interests in all fields of magnetics, which is particularly relevant to hybrid and all-electric vehicles with regards the motors & generators required for such vehicles.

This is Cenex's first seminar for the UK Magnetics Society, and is a good opportunity for those people involved to become more aware of the technologies and challenges for the transport sector, and for Cenex to further network a key technology discipline.
