Electric Vehicle charging points can be installed in domestic or workplace locations and are eligible for match-funding under the Plugged-In Midlands Scheme*. The general requirements for domestic and workplace charging equipment are similar. For both locations you can use a tethered cable and plug (e.g. SAE J1772) installed inside or outside the property. Charging points are typically rated at 3.7 kW (16 Amps) or 7kW (32 Amps) power output and can reduce charging times by about 2 and 4 hours, respectively (when compared to a standard 3 kW household three pin BS1363 connection).
