Biomethane vehicle trials

Cenex has monitored and validated emission savings and vehicle performance in a number of biomethane vehicle trials.

Biomethane is a renewable transport fuel that is produced during the controlled decay of organic matter in the absence of air, commonly from landfill or organic waste processing anaerobic digester units.  Biomethane can be used in an unmodified natural gas vehicle. It is estimated that around 13.5 million natural gas vehicles are currently in use, with over 1 million of these operated in Europe.  Vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and after-market vehicle convertors now offer biomethane compatible products in all vehicle classes.

Please review the links on the left for details on our biomethane vehicle trials and access to trial reports.  Further information on biomethane can be found on the resources page.
