  • Refuelling the Countryside Report

    Resource

Cenex is pleased to announce the release of a report entitled ‘Refuelling the Countryside,’ commissioned by the Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) and delivered by Greenwatt. As one of the report’s main sponsors, the report provides the low carbon vehicle community Cenex supports with a first showcasing of what the transition to low carbon […]

  • LCT Trial Workshop Overview

    Resource

This short two page overview of the Low Carbon Truck Trial Workshop event highlights some of the key findings and discussion points from the sessions, and provides an overview of the current progress of the trial.

  • Leeds biomethane RCV trial report

    Resource

Trial of biomethane-powered refuse collection vehicles in Leeds. This report details the operation and results of a trial of two biomethane powered refuse collection vehicles in Leeds between May 2009 and July 2010. The vehicles trialled were a Mercedes-Benz Econic LLG vehicle with a spark ignition engine running on biomethane alone, and a Dennis-Eagle Elite modified by Hardstaff to run on a mixture of diesel and biomethane, commonly known as dual-fuel. This report provides a well-to-wheel analysis of the greenhouse gas savings achieved by the vehicles as well as an analysis of the drivers and barriers to their extended uptake.

  • Greenwich waste and fleet analysis

    Resource

The Cenex Biomethane Calculator has been designed to give an indicative production quantity of biomethane and an indicative revenue value in both combined heat and power (CHP) and vehicle applications. This allows for a quantitative decision to be made on whether a more detailed engineering and financial analysis for a particular AD programme should be progressed.

  • Coca-Cola Enterprises trial report

    Resource

Driven by a desire to produce a step change reduction in fleet CO2 emissions Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) evaluated and compared the emissions, fuel consumption, economics, reliability and operability of a 26 tonne Iveco Stralis gas vehicle operating on biomethane with that of a diesel Stralis vehicle. The vehicles’ performance was evaluated as part of a collaborative assessment project involving Cenex - the UK’s Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell technologies acting as an independent monitoring body, Iveco – the vehicle provider, GasRec – the fuel supplier and CCE – the vehicle operator, where the economic, technical and programme support resources of each partner were pooled.

  • Biomethane toolkit

    Resource

The biomethane toolkit has been designed to give local authorities and others information about what is needed to produce and use biomethane as a vehicle fuel. It contains 10 Topic Sheets on the various aspects of biomethane production and use, a calculation tool to allow you to assess the potential viability of biomethane in your situation and a directory of suppliers. The toolkit will allow users to understand biomethane as a vehicle fuel and scope out the potential viability for use in their specific circumstances.

  • Camden Biomethane Trial Report

    Resource

Biomethane is a renewable transport fuel produced from the anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic waste or energy crops. The fuel is close to carbon neutral, and when used in vehicles it has very low exhaust emissions with regards local air quality and is considerably quieter than conventional diesel vehicles.
