Assistant Technical Specialist – Low Emission Vehicles

Remuneration: £20,000 – £25,000 dependent on skills and experience

The purpose of this role is to provide data management, analytical and report writing support when assessing the suitability of low emission vehicles in client fleets.  The job is open to both university leavers and individuals with industrial experience.

Typical accountabilities include:

  • Analysis of low carbon vehicle performance data, reporting and presentation of the results
  • Develop and deploy analytical techniques to assess the performance of low emission vehicle types (electric, hydrogen, natural gas, etc.), and supporting infrastructure, for on road / in fleet operations (practical, economic and environmental)
  • Research, analyse and assess low emission automotive technologies, markets, and policy
  • Maintenance and development of code for in-house analysis and modelling software, and updating of advice websites
  • Operation of vehicle performance modelling and simulation software
  • Develop and write technical papers and reports (and present where required) on Cenex projects
  • Development of questionnaires to assess individuals’ and companies’ perception of low carbon vehicles
  • Support the management of Cenex’s own low carbon vehicles, and the oversight of fleet assessment activities

To be considered for the role you should possess:

  • Engineering or technical degree
  • Good communicator, with experience of presenting and writing reports
  • Analytical mind
  • Data analysis skills, with experience of Excel
  • Experience of programming in Matlab, VBA, Python or SQL for data analysis
  • Completer/finisher task orientated, capable of working unsupervised
  • Located near to Loughborough or willing to relocate

  • Computing, science, maths based qualification
  • Information collection, database and statistical analysis experience
  • Interest in environmental technology
  • Motor industry engagement
  • Vehicle modelling
  • Driving licence
