The Knowledge Transfer Network will be hosting a workshop to discuss funding support for innovation in vehicle-to-grid and grid support. With a great deal of interest in this area from both industry and Government, Innovate UK is considering supporting this innovation space. Innovate UK, BEIS and their partners are therefore keen to understand whether and how Government innovation support may be made available to catalyse developments in this area. Go Ultra Low Nottingham INTU Partnership Event
Nottingham intu Victoria Centre
Nottingham City Council in partnership with intu are hosting their first 2017 Go Ultra Low promotion event showcasing electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Visitors to intu Victoria Centre will also have the chance to test drive a low emission vehicle on Level 6 of the multi storey car park. Integrated Transport and Smart Energy Solutions (ITSES) Workshop Integrated transport and smart infrastructure systems are becoming a priority for cities throughout the UK, with the benefits of smart energy technology being realised in a number of major infrastructure and transport developments.The event will provide an overview of V2G technology and will present a number of business models, with a view to establishing the most promising exploitation routes for this exciting new technology. The workshop will be delivered as part of the Innovate UK funded ITSES project.

Dr Rebecca Gough, Technical Specialist – Energy Systems at Cenex will give an overview of vehicle-to-gird technologies. Becky will discuss innovative ways of using electric vehicles as a new source of renewable energy storage/generation, and suggest that an increase in electric vehicles can help balance the grid using smart systems, not add more pressure/demand.

Robert Evans, Chief Executive Officer, will chair the 'Green Vehicles: using more electricity to drive down carbon' session. Robert will provide an industry overview with a particular focus on low emission vehicles policy and wider energy relevance. Robert is also Chairman of UK EVSE (the UK Electric Vehicle Supply and Equipment Association).

Steve Carroll, Head of Transport, is leading the Cenex fleet review team and has completed studies for Nottingham City Council, Natural Resources Wales, Leeds City Council, Northern Gas Networks and Royal Mail. He also led the trial monitoring team for the Innovate UK and DfT funded Low Carbon Truck Trail and co-wrote the Low Emission Van Guide with LowCVP. Steve will be able to talk through the process of greening your fleet, and the key total cost of ownership and emissions savings opportunities, as well as current grant funding offered by Government.
