Case Study
The Challenge
Midlands Energy Hub commissioned Cenex to determine potential transport and energy hub locations across the Midlands Region to form the backbone of a Midlands-wide charging and fuelling network.
The Development
A set of 5 required and 5 ideal criteria were agreed and applied to a suite of open-access datasets and stakeholder input to create a longlist of 50 potential sites across the region. Ranked sites by Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)
A further round of analysis took a regional perspective to mitigate the risk that a LEP-by-LEP view may not distribute sites as evenly as a holistic analysis.
The Results
Bringing the two analyses together produced a list of 11 sites which could form the backbone of a growing set of hubs across the whole Midlands with at least one priority site in each LEP.
A short report containing maps by LEP and of the sites across the whole region was delivered and accepted by the client.
