TEIDE: Model Effective EV Charging Infrastructure

Resource

Summary

Two of the key questions facing CPOs at the moment are “Where should I site en-route charging?” and “What utilisation will my chargepoints have over the coming years?”. Neither of these questions are simple to answer. Cenex has devoted a significant amount of time to help answer these questions, and as a result, we’ve developed a Tool Evaluating Infrastructure Demand En-route, or TEIDE for short.

Simply input a location into TEIDE, specify how many chargepoints and what power you would like to install, and the tool will do the rest. Outputs include a forecast of energy-based utilisation and the annual revenue you can expect. The interactive tool also gives you the locations and journey times to nearby existing chargers, and measurements of trip counts on the roads near your selected chargepoint location.

Key Points

Whether you’re a CPO, an investor or part of a Local Authority, the TEIDE model can help you with:

  • Candidate locations for building en-route EVI
  • Sizing of EVI at these locations
  • Projection for when they become financially viable based on forecast EV uptake rates
